Worship at First Baptist
Our worship follows a fairly traditional format borrowing occasionally from more contemporary styles. Worship is led by lay volunteers and the Pastor. Singing and prayer, scripture and sermon form the main movements of our worship, along with other acts, from occasional poetry reading to dramatic and mission presentations. We observe the ordinance of the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of each month (and on other special occasions).
Children of all ages are welcome to worship with their families. For children from age 3 through grade 4 there is a optional program of active children's worship provided by our Christain Education team following a children's message that occurs about half way through the service. A nursery is available for smaller children (up to age 3) throughout the service.
Most hymns are sung from the hymnal, with a few selections projected on screen. Instrumentation and style varies from traditional organ and piano accompaniment to recorded contemporary music.
